Devlog #1 — Introducing TechFarmProto
Hey everyone!
Welcome to the very first devlog for TechFarmProto — a small but ambitious prototype that’s the seed of something much bigger.
🧑🌾 What is TechFarmProto?
At its core, TechFarmProto is a farming simulation prototype built in Godot 4, designed to test the systems and ideas behind a larger, more developed game in the future. It’s not about content yet — it’s about foundation.
You’ll be able to:
-
Till soil, plant seeds, and grow crops 🌾
-
Switch between tools and farming modes 🧰
-
Move around and explore early tile interactions 🚶♂️
-
Get a taste of the atmosphere and tone I’m going for
It’s still early — expect rough edges, placeholder art, and test mechanics — but this version is meant to prove out the core gameplay loop.
💡 Why make a prototype?
Instead of jumping straight into a full game, I wanted to build something playable first, where I can experiment freely, fix problems early, and establish what feels right before building all the content and polish.
Every little bug, every weird tile, every “oops I broke the dirt again” moment is part of the process — and I’ll be sharing those along the way.
🧠 Current Focus
Right now, I’m focused on:
-
Getting solid player movement and tool systems
-
Establishing a consistent visual style and mood
-
Testing how farming mechanics feel when actually played, not just imagined
Once those pieces feel good, I’ll start layering in more life — plants, animations, sound, and maybe even some tech-inspired twists.
💬 Follow Along
This is just the start. I’ll be posting updates here as I iterate, add visuals, and clean things up — from messy prototypes to something truly special.
If you’re into cozy farming, techy twists, or just like seeing games grow from the dirt up — stick around. 🌾
